International scientific collaborations have led to groundbreaking scientific discoveries such as the first image of a black hole, lifesaving vaccines and therapies, and new crops that help prevent famine. In the face of current global challenges - including COVID-19 and the climate crisis - international collaboration that involves established and emerging science partners grows ever more critical.

All were invited to join the discussion of America and the International Future of Science, the first publication issued by the Academy鈥檚 Challenges for International Scientific Partnerships initiative. The project鈥檚 leaders explored the report鈥檚 recommendations for continued U.S. engagement with the global scientific ecosystem, U.S.-China collaboration, and the importance of building a more resilient and inclusive scientific enterprise for the post-COVID-19 world.
