Dr. Ayanna Howard is an accomplished entrepreneur, educator, international expert in robotics and AI, and the president of Spelman College. In her former leadership roles, she has served as dean of The Ohio State University College of Engineering, chair of the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a deputy manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She was also the founder and president of the board of directors of Zyrobotics, a Georgia Tech spin-off company that developed mobile therapy and educational products for children with special needs. Howard’s research encompasses advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), assistive technologies, and robotics. She currently works on projects ranging from healthcare robots to developing methods to mitigate bias and trust in AI. She has been recognized on top industry lists including Forbes’ “America’s Top 50 Women in Tech,” Business Insider’s “23 of the Most Powerful Women Engineers,” and Women Inc.’s “Most Influential Women Corporate Board Directors.” She is a Fellow of AAAI, IEEE, AAAS, AIMBE, the ��ɫӰ��app & Sciences, and the National Academy of Inventors. Howard earned her bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Brown University, her master’s degree and PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, and her MBA from Claremont Graduate University.
