Author Claire Messud's seven novels include This Strange Eventful History, The Burning Girl, The Woman Upstairs, and The Emperor’s Children. She has also written a book of essays, Kant's Little Prussian Head & Other Reasons Why I Write: An Autobiography in Essays.

A recipient of a Guggenheim and Radcliffe Fellowships and the Strauss Living Award from the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿âapp and Letters, Messud also teaches writing. She has taught at Amherst College, Kenyon College, University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University, and other programs, and is now a Senior Lecturer in Fiction at Harvard.
