Mark Seidenberg is a professor emeritus in the Department of Psychology at University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he co-directs the Language & Cognitive Neuroscience Lab. His research addresses the fundamental questions about the nature of language and how it is acquired, used, and represented in the brain. He studies spoken language and comprehension, how children learn to read, the causes of dyslexia and ways to address educational achievement gaps.

Seidenberg is the author of Language at the Speed of Sight: How We Read, Why So Many Can鈥檛, and What Can Be Done About It, along with over 100 peer-reviewed articles on cognitive neuroscience, reading science, and language processing.

He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University and completed postdoctoral training at the Center for the Study of Reading, University of Illinois. He was previously a Senior Scientist at Haskins Laboratories.
