脴ystein Linnebo is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oslo. His primary research interests are in the philosophy of logic and mathematics, metaphysics, and the philosophy of science. He is particularly interested in questions concerning ontology, individuation, essence, reference (especially to abstract objects), necessity, and of necessary truths and relates them to questions in philosophical logic and the philosophy of language. Linnebo points to Aristotle and Gottlob Frege as the thinkers who have influenced his own work the most.
His books include Philosophy of Mathematics, Thin Objects, and - with Salvatore Florio - The Many And The One. Previously, Linnebo was a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Birkbeck College and at the University of Bristol. He obtained a PhD from the Department of Philosophy at Harvard University and an MA in Mathematics at the University of Oslo.
