Roz Chast, a Member of the American Academy since 2013, is a cartoonist. Her earliest cartoons were published in Christopher Street and The Village Voice. In 1978, The New Yorker accepted one of her cartoons鈥揳nd has since published more than one thousand. She also publishes cartoons in Scientific American, Harvard Business Review, Redbook, and Mother Jones. Her subjects often deal with domestic and family life and reflect a conspiracy of inanimate objects. Her recent books include Going Into Town: A Love Letter to New York (2017), Can鈥檛 We Talk About Something More Pleasant?: A Memoir (2014), What I Hate from A to Z (2011), and Theories of Everything: Selected, Collected, and Health-Inspected Cartoons of Roz Chast, 1978鈥2006 (2008). She also illustrated The Alphabet from A to Y, with Bonus Letter, Z (2007), the children鈥檚 book by Steve Martin.
